A Name That Is Anything But Plain
My Name Is Jane is an ongoing photographic study that explores women from all different backgrounds who share one common ground: their name. Spanning Melbourne, London and Paris, the project has so far captured scientists to artists, students to retired women – and even icons, including Jane Birkin. “This is such a brilliant idea ...
how could I say no?!”
Jane Birkin, Paris
While the actual project is a study in diversity, the visual identity was a study in restraint. Minimal colour, bold type and a few fun tricks such as the rotating name plate helped deliver a site that is as strong, intelligent and beautiful as the Janes themselves.
Consisting of a diverse collection of black and white portraits, interviews and film installations, the My Name Is Jane Australian launch was attended by fashion and arts media, friends and of course lots of Janes. The event was hosted at Rokeby Gallery in Melbourne with the help of fine art specialists Arten Framing.
